The Kew Cricket Club junior program is designed to provide girls and boys with the opportunity to have fun with old friends and new, develop their skills and continue to enjoy the game of cricket.

Our junior cricket program has been designed by Representative (Level 2) and High Performance (Level 3) accredited coaches to suit the needs of young players of all ages and abilities. The club provides all junior players with access to high quality coaching delivered by senior players. The coaching program is tailored to each group to best create a fun, positive environment for development of friendships, skills and leadership qualities.

The Kew Cricket Club journey begins at Woolworths Cricket Blast level, with girls and boys taught the fundamentals of the game within the Junior Blasters and Master Blasters programs developed by Cricket Australia. From there, we offer mixed gender and girls only teams at age groups ranging from U10 through to U18. We encourage any girl who wishes to play in a mixed-gender team to give it a go; girls can usually play in grades 1 or 2 years below their actual age, depending on the competition rules.

Kew Cricket Club enters junior teams in the Eastern Cricket Association (ECA) and Inner East Girls Cricket (IEGC) competitions. The ECA offer representative cricket opportunities to talented girls and boys at U12, U14, U16 and U18 level.

As a member of the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association (VSDCA), Kew Cricket Club fields an U15 representative team in the JG Craig Shield. The club prides itself on offering a best-in-class Craig Shield experience, both in terms of the cricket and the whole carnival experience.

Trials are usually held in October with the carnival taking place during the January school holidays.

The club also actively promotes young players playing senior cricket when they are ready. Each year, dozens of junior players are given opportunities to play at the level of senior cricket that is most appropriate for their development.
